No more ice cream at home
We are on carton two of this lenten period. We almost never buy ice cream. The last pre-Lent ice cream lasted me like two months!
Remind me not to give in to Josiah’s late night suggestions of buying ice cream. He doesn’t eat enough of it, ha.
Luckily I don’t gorge, but I could probably go without eating it five times a week. I should probably save it for my weekly froyo...

Blonde Gym B(itch)
Headed to the north Scottsdale Gold’s Gym location to kill time after personal training tonight.
Turns out I’d rather kill myself than kill time here. So many fake boobs and creepy old dudes. I guess those two go hand in hand?
I can’t wait to get back to my regular downtown Phoenix location tomorrow morning. I miss my cute gay downtowners.
P.S. - For you non-AZ folks,...

April running goals
First “real” run in a long time. Meaning: 1. I ran alone 2. I tried 3. I didn’t eat pizza an hour before running.
3 miles, 8:31 pace.
I have a lot of work to do. In October I was running that pace for 6 miles.
Well, you have to start somewhere. Here’s to my new training regimen. I can’t wait to get fast again (relatively speaking).
April goals:
Run at least 15...

My (exercise) life story
I really don’t want to be one of those annoying girls who is complaining about her weight. Done with that.
When it comes down to it, I’m trying to be healthy. I want to be fit. I am fit. I just want to be fitter.
I started playing soccer at age 4. In high school I tried my hand at track and cross country. I sucked. Eventually I stopped playing soccer to focus on journalism, as I was...

Gym B(itch): I spot one in the wild
Well, folks. I have a real gym b on my hands, and on my right.
I got to the gym at 7:20 and hopped on a spin bike. Well, the seat was broken. And so was the one next to that. Finally, the third in this series was in working condition, so I got going.
About five minutes later this gal goes to sit down. I informed her that I had a hard time adjusting the seat. She gave me a stink eye...
Eff
For the first time in two weeks, I weigh 130 again. I thought I was safely sitting in the 120s.
I know losing weight is a simple calorie deficit. I’m just bummed. I’m working out a lot (twice a day, generally) and including more than an hour of good cardio a day. I always hope that burning an extra 600 calories will give me a boost, but I’ve been falling short this week.
Time...

"Third Avenue is the underground railroad of...
For the past four years, cycling has been a crucial part of my life. My bike was my transportation. It helped me meet amazing people. It started my weight loss journey. It made me fall in love with activity, exercise and competition.
But last summer, I started running. Ha.
In any case, Josiah and I have been riding a lot through downtown Phoenix the past few weeks. I regret abandoning my bikes...

I’m definitely going to have to make these for Josiah. That man loves lemon poppyseed anything.

A woman's dream
Walking through the front door to find your husband vacuuming in his underwear.
(One benefit of having a husband in grad school: he cleans to avoid reading textbooks on classical rhetoric.)

Thank you
LGO pizza for thwarting my run. I forgot that I am not allowed to eat for at least 3 weeks before a run. Ugh.
Ick.
I’ll resume the blogging life tomorrow. I’m too busy feeling awful/eating ice cream to post pictures.

Gym B(itch): It's Pat!
What’s worse than going back to school the Monday after spring break? Oh, that’s right. Not sleeping the night before because you’re too busy sneezing and clawing at your swollen eyes.
At 4 a.m. I decided enough was enough. I was going to ditch the pity party and go to the gym.
So, I get there and realize I am one of three dedicated gym-goers present. I head for the spin...

Salmon with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes →
This is one of the most delicious things I’ve made in a really long time. I don’t even like lemon or tomatoes, but the flavors were incredibly complementary with the salmon and thyme.
Ingredients
2 cups cherry tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
Cooking spray
