Celeste Gives Up Challenge 8: Stop Counting Calories
I kicked today’s ass. Yesterday seemed to be a fantastic wake up call. Plus, I don’t really have any food left after eating it all last night haha.
Celeste Gives Up Mini Challenge 8: Lose the negativity
I’m very happy with today in general, so here’s a general daily gratitude exercise.
Five things I’m thankful...

I just spent the past 30 minutes reading through Wikipedia’s Deaths in 2011 list.
So interesting. Mostly depressing.

Uh, what?
Here’s my tentative running plan:
Oct 9: Long Beach Half Marathon
Begin marathon training
Nov 6: Tempe Women’s Half Marathon
Continue marathon training
Jan 15: Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon
Die
I want to maintain my fitness level so I could run a half marathon comfortably at any point. I’m going to be halfway to a marathon, so I might as well keep going? That...

New running goal
Keep all solo runs under 9:00 pace.
My weekly training plan calls for 3-4 easy runs, 1 speed workout and 1 long run.
I’ll be incorporating more solo runs into my training the next six weeks, and I’m going to keep myself accountable to make training worth it.
The 8-minute pace range is good for me because it’s not too strenuous, but it’s fast enough to get my heart...

Celeste Gives Up Mini Challenge 8: Lose the negativity
Let’s just say I’m a little annoyed with my better half right now. This week is about being positive right? I think I better choose Josiah as the topic tonight, so I can avoid giving in to the negativity.
Five things I love about my husband:
He is the most encouraging person I know. Josiah truly believes in pursuing your...

Metatarsalgia
collinearity replied to your post: My toes!
Just what I had, its called metatarsalgia, pressure on the bones due to weak arches, swells the bones and causes pain. I went to the orthopedist and he recommended Sorbothane inserts. I also got refitted for new shoes and opted for a wider pair.
After reading this Mayo Clinic article, I think you’re right. I have every symptom! Eff.

My toes!
A week or two ago, I posted this about my stiff toes.
Here’s some clarification:
I don’t actually get blisters.
It’s the bottom of my toes/joints that hurts, not my toenails.
Injury recap: stiff toes, can’t pop them, hurts to walk barefoot
Last week, I started doing some stretching exercises:
and
(not my feet.)
My foot was super tight at first, but it felt...

Six weeks until my half
My running hasn’t progressed much in the past couple of months. Yes, it’s getting easier. I’ve been running longer distances and more often. My endurance has improved.
But I haven’t pushed myself at all recently. I don’t know what my ability is because I haven’t even tried to go fast. Every run is at an easy speed. Too easy.
My pace needs to be 9:09 to break 2...

Celeste Gives Up Challenge 8: Lose the negativity
Today marks the second week of school, so I figured I’d start with work.
Five things I love about being a teacher:
Teaching gives me amazing flexibility: done by 2, summers off, spring break, etc. I have the time to pursue my freelance career, while having the stability of a salary.
I legitimately like my job. I teach upper-level...

Week 8 Challenge: Stop counting calories
I’ve mentioned before that I wanted to free myself from calorie counting.
So, this week’s challenge is to give up the food log. I need to do this to prove to myself that I can eat like a normal person without tracking.
I officially stopped counting on Thursday, and the next few days were slightly disastrous—a combination of...

Dear pear apple,
I had such high hopes. I love pears. I love apples. I wanted to love you, pear apple.
But you were boring. Bland. Not my type.
I guess this is goodbye. Maybe the trashcan can appreciate your tasteless crunch.

8/24-27 Log
So, I’m toying around with the idea of doing a weekly training log instead of daily. No one cares about that shiz, so I might as well lump it together in one post. I’ll probably do separate run recaps throughout the week though, especially now that the half marathon is getting so close…

Not surprised.
There is a very loud, obnoxiously arrogant girl near me at the coffee shop. I can’t concentrate because she literally will not stop talking at max volume.
I finally look back to dish out a less-than-pleased glare.
Turns out I know her. And yes, she’s always this talkative and egotistical.
Yes, I’m a B. But holy shit, she is so loud that I cannot think, let alone write....

I've always been into challenges.
These days, I challenge myself to sleep more, limit spending and eat healthier.
In college, I challenged myself (encouraged by my roommate) to eat an entire jar of maraschino cherries. On video.
Times have changed.

Gym Bitch has lunch
Today I had the pleasure of standing in line behind two gems at Paradise Bakery.
Woman 1: insisted on sampling every. Single. Dressing. She made the employee spoon each dressing into a cup. She then proceeded to swirl her finger around, and lick it off. Repeat 10 more times. THEN, she asked for samples of different dressings mixed together. She eventually settled for ranch. (Of course.) But the...

Alarm goes off at 6 am.
tonpetitchou:
First thought: “I’m so tired. Too tired. Too tired for the gym.”
But then I thought:
“I set the alarm for a reason. There are few things I love more than being the early bird at an almost-empty gym.”
“Celeste was up an hour and a half ago fitting in her workout. My ‘too tired’ argument is the most invalid.”
So, it’s coffee, toast, and weights. Then tomorrow I rest.

Climbing out.
I must shift my mindset. I don’t want to lose weight. I want to be healthy and strong.
My goal is to run. Run quickly and well, without injury.
Calorie counting won’t help me do this. Properly fueling my runs and building strength will.
Tumblr has helped me tremendously to lose weight and reach goals. But, now that I’m here, I feel constantly sucked in to the obsessive food...

I forgot to set a challenge this week? Efffff. That’s what happens when all hell breaks loose (aka school starts).
I only have EIGHT best of entries left. I am killing it. The plan is to be done writing by Friday, then edit and send ‘em in this weekend. Yay!

CGU week 7: Bars recap
Week 7 Challenge: No bars I was so nervous for this one, guys. It was embarrassing, actually. I had planned on doing this challenge for the past month, but came up with excuses every time, like “Oh no! I’m traveling this week. What will I eat?” or “I have 59 bars in my pantry right now; it’ll never work!”
So, I let my bars run out. I had two left (and some...
