CELESTE GIVES UP

Forty pounds.
Feeling sorry for myself.
Eating crap.
Being lazy.

I'm Celeste, a magazine editor living in Phoenix.

Get ready for a lot of fitness, a lot of sass and a lot of froyo.

Josiah has been sick for six days. Today I have back-to-back-to-back tutoring appointments. I won’t get home until 8.

What I’m trying to say is this:

I could really use a Diet Coke (mixed with light lemonade).

Week 3 Challenge: Only drink water.

Eff me. I have been putting this update off.

I failed. Big time. Like … gave up.

I don’t know what the deal is. When did I start drinking so much diet soda? It grosses me out and makes me feel awful.

Still though, ever since I stopped eating poorly it’s…

Let’s try this again. Sort of.

Week 11 Challenge: No soda

I’ve gotten to the point where Diet Coke tastes like water. Enough said?

I am an idiot.

When will I learn that soda ravages my stomach? No. More.

I’ve felt like a beached whale flopping about all evening. I’m somewhat tempted to grab the tape measurer to see how many inches my temporary pregnancy has loaned my gut.

But alas, that would involve movement. Instead, I’ll just complain on tumblr.

To my real life BFFs: if you see me drinking a soda, I give you permission to dump it on my head. Please and thank you.

CGU week 3: Tasty beverages recap

Week 3 Challenge: Only drink water.

Eff me. I have been putting this update off.

I failed. Big time. Like … gave up.

I don’t know what the deal is. When did I start drinking so much diet soda? It grosses me out and makes me feel awful.

Still though, ever since I stopped eating poorly it’s been one of my few “treats.” And then it became my crutch. Want a cupcake? Drink some soda. Want to eat a glass full of fake sugar? Drink some soda.

I started off on the right foot, but things quickly went poorly. By Friday on our staycation, I was so tempted by Diet Coke that I just went for it. Come on … eating out every meal is such a lure for tasty beverages!

By Saturday, I considered myself a CGU challenge failure and bought some Fresca. Woe is me.

What I’ve learned: At some point, I started drinking too much soda. I need to decrease my consumption, even if it’s gradually.

Somehow, giving up gluten for six weeks during Lent was WAY easier than not drinking soda for a week … aka four days.

3: Celeste Gives Up … Tasty Beverages

Week 3 Challenge: Drink only water.

To be honest, I’m embarrassed that this is a “challenge.” In the past, I’ve been really good about keeping the non-water drinks to a minimum. It helped that I was super picky about drinks — I never drink alcohol and carbonated soda didn’t work for me.

Then I started eating better. And for some reason, I latched on to diet soda.

I think I drink it to fill the sweet void my new lifestyle has created. I’ve always been a big dessert person (literally ha). I stopped eating so much sugar, but I obviously still wanted it. So I started drinking diet soda.

I’m not a crazy soda addiction person. But, my soda consumption has drastically increased in the past few months, and I don’t like it.

I especially don’t like how it makes me feel. The carbonation absolutely demolishes my stomach. It always has, which is why I never drank it to begin with. I guess I forgot about those uncomfortable effects when I started up again.

In any case, here’s to a hydrated week filled with pure H20 goodness.
